Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Interior, Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and in the presence of the Governor of Karbala, Engineer Nassif Jasem Al-Khattabi, Al-Hussein University College participated in the events of the annual conference for Anti-Drug Week, organized by the Karbala Police Command under the slogan:
"No to Drugs... Yes to Life."
The college was represented at the conference by Assistant Lecturer Nahidh Yass Dehash, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division. This participation reflects the college’s commitment to its educational and social role in confronting negative phenomena—foremost among them the drug scourge, which poses a serious threat to the security and safety of society, especially among youth.
The conference discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between security agencies, government institutions, and civil society organizations to help raise community awareness about the dangers of drugs and methods of prevention. It also emphasized the importance of activating the roles of the media, educational institutions, and religious entities in promoting a culture of rejection and prevention, and in enhancing community-based treatment approaches to curb the spread of this dangerous phenomenon.
The conference witnessed broad attendance, including the Commander of Karbala Operations, the Chief of Police, several members of the Iraqi Parliament, the President and members of the Karbala Provincial Council, as well as directors of security and service agencies, and a large number of university and school professors—reflecting the significant national concern about this pressing issue.
